Reliable Temps is searching for VMC CNC Operators in the Turners Falls area!

Pay Rate: $18-22/hr

1st Shift: 6am-6pm (2-2-3)

2nd Shift: 6pm-6am (2-2-3) $4 shift differential


  • Responsible for operating CNC MILL (Vertical Milling Center)
  • Setup, inspecting parts to drawings requirements, troubleshooting malfunctions when necessary and reporting needed repairs.
  • Review setup sheet and specifications to determine setup procedures.
  • Read and understand blueprints necessary.
  • Advanced math knowledge
  • Inspect quality of all tools – must be able to inspect for dimensional tolerance and aesthetic tolerance.
  • Use tape measures, rulers, dial/digital calipers, optical comparators (shadow graph) and depth gauges to ensure precision
  • Train other operators as needed, e.g., on the job training, shadowing, machine set up and changeover education, program checks, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems arising out of normal operation of lathes; maintenance functions include (but are not limited to) changing oil, replacing inserts and collets, program checks, etc.
  • Perform regular (daily/weekly/monthly/yearly) maintenance per machine schedules, such as motor replacements, machine rebuilds, etc.
  • Read, edit, and interpret G- & M-code with sufficient proficiency to control movements and speed of Mills, including ability to customize written code to tailor to clients’ needs

Qualifications/Preferred Skills

  • 2-5 years’ experience of operating and setup knowledge of standard CNC controllers, i.e., CNC vertical and horizontal mills.
  • Must be able to convert files from 2D AutoCAD into 3D CAD models within Fusion360 and subsequently generate CAM programs from those designs
  • Must be knowledgeable of machining technology, mechanical principles, and shop mathematics.
  • Qualified applicants must have good verbal and written communication skills. Must read, write, and speak English.
  • Experience with WinCNC or ShopVue
  • Educational Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of a CNC program preferred.
