Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Local manufacturer currently looking for an Environmental Health & Safety Specialist! Looking for candidates with previous manufacturing industry experience. Full time, temp-hire opportunity! Candidate will be in charge of leading local OSHA and EPA compliance activities; managing work comp claims with carrier; initiating, driving and managing key injury prevention activities; engaging and collaborating with associates and managing leading and lagging indicators.

Other responsibilities include:

-Developing, evaluating and maintaining effective health/safety policy and procedures to comply with corporate and regulatory requirements. (Example: Emergency Action Plan, Facility Security, Hazard Communication, Safe Operating Procedures, Lockout/Tagout, Machine guarding, Bloodborne pathogens, Respiratory Protection, Chemical Waste Management, etc.)

-Maintain effective relationships with external parties such as governmental agencies, vendors, suppliers, and local occupational health clinics.

-Conduct routine audits and inspections of environmental procedures and controls. Recommend and facilitate corrective actions to maintain the effectiveness.

-Oversee all safety and training activities. Full oversight of all EH&S reporting requirements of State and Federal agencies including OSHA Log maintenance.

-Administer environmental compliance activities including tracking, reporting, scheduling and sampling as necessary.

Skills/Qualifications:

-Capable of facilitating and sponsoring employee led teams that solve problems and lead the location to World Class Safety.

-Review and analyze data to determine the next opportunity to improve EHS performance.

-Bring experience to innovative EHS compliance and risk reduction techniques via employee engagement, behavior-based safety programs, risk assessments, and implementing EHS programs as needed.

-BS degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene or Environmental related discipline required and a minimum of 5+ years of related experience.

Schedule: 1st shift 8am-5pm

Pay: $30-40/hr depending on experience
