The inspector works closely with the Scale Operator to manage inbound traffic and monitor material quality on a daily basis.

Specific job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review and understand all companyinspector training materials.
  • Inspect incoming loads of all materials to ensure that no prohibited materials are present. Prohibited materials include liquids (fuels, oil and gasoline), refrigerants, batteries, mercury switches, lead wheel weights, CRTs, closed containers of any kind, PCB containing materials, radioactive materials, asbestos containing materials, trash, concrete, wood, etc.
  • Complete inspection reports accurately and on a timely basis to ensure proper quality tracking for the Company.
  • Manage traffic patterns to ensure safe, efficient offloading of vehicles at the light iron pad or in other appropriate locations in the yard.
  • Maintain a clean scale and driveway at all times.
  • Develop good relations with key suppliers and truck drivers to ensure a smooth process at the scale on a daily basis.
  • Observe all safety rules and requirements and ensure that all truckers, customers and other personnel in the scale area are observing safety rules consistently.
  • Learn to operate the scale to help cover when the Scale Operator is not working.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
