A local manufacturer is looking for experienced Machinists in the Turners Falls area.
6am-6pm & 6pm-6am
Fenn/Swager Machine Operator:
1st shift- $19/hr
2nd shift: $23/hr
- Operate all swager cells including setup and operation of #4 and #5 Fenns
- Proper set up, operation and shut down of induction heating units
- Set up and operation of clip press, bend press and stamp press
- Inspect quality and dimensions of all tools
- Must be able to match tool to print provided on shop packs; position requires precise forging according to tool specifications
- Use calipers and measuring tapes to ensure precision
- Participate in training new employees when needed
Acme Grinder:
1st shift: $18/hr
- Proper set up and care of Acme Grinder machine
- Install wheels and belts for maintenance and job switchover as needed
- Careful adjustment of weights and rests
- Calibrate belt distance for correct tool width
- Safe operation of Acme Grinder
- Grind both sides of tools to specifications
- Dimensional and quality inspection of all tools
- Able to use manual and electric lifts to transport raw and finished materials
- Read and interpret shop prints
- Operate ShopVue computer to handle inventory
- Notify supervisor and/or maintenance of issues beyond personal control
Wheel Hand Operator:
1st shift: $19/hr
- Set up and operate grinding and polishing equipment:
- Ensure all safety devices and guards are in place before operation
- Operate open wheels to bevel chisels, polish round work, etc.
- Change belts/wheels as necessary
- Clean and maintain machines regularly
- Inspect dimensions of all tools – must be able to match to print and specs provided on shop packs
- Inspect quality of all tools – must be able to inspect for dimensional tolerance and aesthetic tolerance
- Able to use electric/manual lifts and pallet jacks to transport raw and finished materials
- Read and interpret shop prints
- Operate ShopVue computer to handle inventory
- Notify supervisor and/or maintenance of issues beyond personal control
Bandsaw Operator:
2nd shift: $23/hr
- Proper and safe set up of bandsaw machine, including checking fluid levels and evaluating blade status
- Read prints and shop packs for tool and alloy specifications and to set correct cutting speed and length
- Load and stack steel according to size and steel type to maximize job load
- Maximize saw blade life whenever possible
- Change worn blades as necessary and honing the blade after installation
- Able to use manual and electric lifts to transport raw and finished materials
- Use calipers and measuring tapes to ensure precision
- Obtain first piece sign off from supervisor at the start of every new job
- Participate in training new employees when needed
CNC Utility Material Handler:
2nd shift: $22/hr
- Prepare bars to be processed in CNC machines
- Set up and use of chamfer machine (ChamferMate) on steel bars before processing
- Load prepped bars into bar feeders to be fed into CNC machines
- Collect scrap metal/chips and prepare for disposal
- Drain oil and scrap metal to be reused/scrapped
- Move scrap to dumpster to be safely disposed
- Wash and dry finished parts before matching products with shop specifications
- Identify and collect scrap bar fragments for scrapped
- Use overhead hoist to move material to its workstation
- Keep accurate and detailed paperwork; ability to read and interpret shop prints
- Perform simple maintenance and upkeep of CNC machines
- Participate in training new employees when needed
